Monorail Panorama

  • Posted on September 3, 2010 at 8:16 pm

I was messing around with Windows Live Gallery.  I had took several images in groups to make panoramas later when I got home.  I didn’t know what program I was going to use but I was watching a video I saw on tweetmeme about DoubleRainbow guy selling out.  I watched his commercial and saw that it showed how to make a panorama in windows live gallery and I was like HEY! I have that! So I dug around in my photos and made several great ones including a nice one of the monorail and space mountain and a great one of Discovery Lake at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that I will upload later because it still needs colour editing.

If you want to see it full size, right click and choose view image. Warning though its 5000 pixels (71 inches) wide.  You have been warned.  Im probabaly going to make a print of it thats 3ft long tho. It will look awesome on my wall.

Tronorail

Yes, more photography spam. A picture of the Tronorail, promoting the Tron Legacy film coming out this holiday season.  Glad I got a shot of it because it may be gone next summer. I had such a lousy photo tour of walt DisneyWorld.  My Safari photos were almost all blurry.  My Epcot Photos were not great, I have like ZERO Disney’s Hollywood Studios photos. It was just a bad trip for photography.  Anyway here’s that Tronorail photo.

A new vintage looking photo.

I took this photo that had a horrid blue cast. After messing around with it I decided to strip the colour from it and made it a bit grainy and I love the way it came out. It looks like an old news paper clipping photo.

Yummy dessert and a mobile theme

  • Posted on August 29, 2010 at 6:56 pm

I am still going through the photos from my vacation.  I found this photo of my dessert at the Yak and Yeti restaurant inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  Its an asian restaurant and a lot of the dishes are Thai, Malaysian and Chinese. For dinner I had this wonderful seafood curry.  It had chucks of Mahimahi and clams and muscles and shrimp and so many other things over a mini mountain of Jasmine rice which is a delectable fragrant rice.  I love to have Jasmine rice by itself.  When it came time for dessert, most of the dishes looked rather mundane till I came across the fried cream cheese wontons and ice cream.  They came on these skewers with chunks of pineapple and were drizzled in this yummy sauce that tasted like honey and vanilla.  The ice cream was a plain vanilla but it was so good and had pieces of the vanilla bean in it.

Also I was looking at some plugins for wordpress and I decided to install one that made my blog more mobile friendly.  I like to read blogs when I am on the go on my android phone and a lot of them I read have mobile versions so now mine does as well.  Yay.

Recently I went to visit someone’s blog and on a whim I posted a comment.  That comment had a cascading effect of causing the write of that blog to visit mine and comment, and then many more people came to my blog and commented.  It empowered me to write more, to post more because now that I know I have readers I want to provide them content.  Its just a warming motivational thing to have people comment on your blog.  Its so nice to look at my blog comments and they aren’t all a bunch of spam from bots posting links to WOW GOLD and Get VIAGRA for free!  So I want to extend a very warm thankyou to any and everyone who have stopped by to read my blog posts.  I try to visit everyone who visits me.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy.

One of my favorite photos

I took a LOT of photos on my vacation.  Not as many as I would have liked but I did take quite a few.  And some were standout.  This one is probably the best of my night shots.  I love my Joby Monster Pod.  I had my tripod wrapped around a sculpture of chip and dale to take this photo.

Giant Gummy Bears

  • Posted on at 1:45 am

While touring the countries in World Showcase @ Epcot we stopped in Germany to look around in the shops. I love little quaint shops and I find it fantastic that some place as big an commercial as Disney, has a selection of small shops, owned by small companies in the companies of the pavillions representation.  While in Germany we visited a confectionary that had these giant gummy bears.  I thought they looked lovely sitting all together.  They were about 13 cms tall about 10 cms wide and equally as thick.  They topped out at almost 200 grams in weight!  I wanted to buy one but they didn’t look right sitting individually, so next trip, (if they still carry them) I shall get a set of all the colours.  I’d never bring myself to eat them they were just so pretty to look at.

Having fun @ Magic Kingdom

Having fun at DisneyWorld on this my last day. Well last full day.  I have had an epic time but honestly I am quite full of it now and ready to return home and start back to school.

On and off note I have decided that I won’t be visiting with family members.  I think it would be a lot more fun to let go and let loose while enjoying the vacation kingdom.

Thanks to all the loverly comments.  I will have to catch up on your blogs soon.  If you know of and other good blogs please suggest.

Ciao Lovely Friends

Oh what a crazy day!

If you have been following my Twitter, Facebook or Blog, (or if you know me personally) you’re familiar with the fact that I was about to begin my vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort.  On Friday the 20th of August is when my lil adventure began.  My companion and I flew out of Los Angeles at 2 in the afternoon and arrived for our connecting flight in Atlanta Georgia at about 9pm, just abreast of a severe thunderstorm.  As we landed we flew through it and actually got to see it rain side ways.  (as long as it doesn’t rain up, Thats a sign of an H2O Scoop and possible abduction by the Judoon.) We landed got to our connecting terminal and then the storm we flew abreast off arrived, rather violently and like a misbehaved relative decided to make a rather mess of things.

First it rained, I mean in buckets, which is not at all unusual for Atlanta this time of year.  It also began to flash with the most beautiful display of lightning I have seen for a while.  Also, not unusual but with that combination, it was unsafe for the ramp staff (the people who guide in planes, unload and load them and what not) to be outside to do what they do and get the plane ready for departure.  So we waited for the angry storm to pass. And waited and waited. Nearly two hours.

When the storm finally did pass over we then had to wait for the backed up tarmac, which by now had many planes who were plenty able to land but rather unable to pull into the gates and be unloaded (because of the saftey issue to the ramp staff) to thin out so our plane could finally pull into the gate.  And the poor lot of people who had been cooped up in these planes on the tarmac in the rain for hours finally got released from their little tubular detention cells.

Then, the plane was in, it was ready and still we waited.  The flight required 3 flight attendants, and one of ours was no where to be found.  We waited for nearly an hour when our hostess at the gate finally decided to simply enlist the assistance of an other available flight attendant, put her on our flight and finally we were on our way at a quarter to one in the morning.  The flight was originally scheduled to leave at 10:20.

So now I am sitting in the Orlando airport, just finished breakfast and waking up. Going to grab a sweet and find some proper tea, as my day can’t begin without it and head over to our resort hotel to begin this vacation. More to come later, Ciao.

The Money Issue

  • Posted on August 16, 2010 at 8:25 pm

So I have decided what to do about vacation funds.  My check most likely will come on Saturday, and I will be gone.  There is a possibility that it may come Friday. How ever, I dislike that uncertainty so I am going to borrow the check amount from my dad so I don’t have to worry about it.  That way, I can come home from my trip, cash my check the next day and pay it all back.  It will also give me the opportunity to put the money on my prepaid credit card and not have to carry cash around.  So that is what my plan is. I will ask him when he gets home, again so I can relax and not worry. I already talked to him about it a month ago so he knows I have this air of uncertainty.  This way I can simply relax.

I also came up with an idea I think will work well regarding my favorite flip flops. I took them last year on vacation and suffered from two problems. 1) when they got wet, it made it very difficult to walk on their slippery surface.  I nearly fell twice and wound up spending the rest of my vacation wearing shoes and socks. Boring. 2) under the heel where the straps connect to the shoe, the little fasteners made my feet sore. The answer came as I was walking home from the post office.  I stepped in a puddle and my foot got wet and I nearly fell on my face. For what ever reason that made me think about taking a bath, and then those little stickers you put in slippery tubs for traction.  Then, and I am certain there was a flash above my head, I had an idea. Those stickers come in all sizes and you can cut them. Put two stickers in my shoes and that will add soft extra padding for my heels and keep me from slipping. And that’s how great ideas happen.  My goal is to get through my entire vacation, without wearing shoes and socks.

A Day at the Beach

  • Posted on August 11, 2010 at 8:29 pm

Today I spent the afternoon walking a section of beach known as The Strand in the city of Manhattan Beach.  It was a very nice day and there were lots of people about.  There were all sorts of camps for surf and volleyball and other stuff.  The sun was very bright and the water was gorgeous and oddly for around this area quite clean.  I didn’t get to photograph it but a hyooge bull sealion that popped up around these swimmers.  It was so awesome but the COOLEST thing was this guy who was hanging over the edge of the pier.  Lots of people thought he was going to jump off the pier but in actuality, he was looking to see where the small schools of fish were around the pylons holding up the pier.  When he located them he cast his line.  There were a lot of people fishing but the guy hanging over the edge of the pier was just catching fish like rapid fire. I had to photograph it.

In the span of 5 minutes this man caught 2 fish.  Some of the other people out there fishing had been fishing for hours and hadn’t had a single bite, and here is this guy fishing and coming up with a fish almost every cast.  What I also found humorous was that when he did bring the fish up from the sea, instead of keeping them like everyone else was intending to do, he would simply unhook them from the hook and toss them back into the ocean and begin again.
